Parent Teacher Organization

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your families to the Norwalk Early Childhood Center, Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). This past fall, a group of NECC parents got together and formed the first ever NECC PTO. We are proud to say that our PTO has been registered and approved by the federal government as a non-profit 501c(3) organization. We are very excited to welcome you and hope that you will participate in our fundraisers and family events throughout the remaining school year.

For those who may not be familiar, the PTO is an organization of parents, teachers and support staff. The PTO’s goal is to foster a nurturing and caring environment that strives for continued parent involvement in helping build a better educational environment for our children. We also promote a school community where teachers and administrators can do their best work with the resources we can provide and help make school fun.  Through fundraising efforts, the PTO is able to donate funds to purchase educational materials and equipment, create a “mobile” library, provide food for teacher/staff appreciation, and other school activities.

For the PTO to be effective and truly representative of the school, it is essential to have involvement from as many parents, guardians & family members as possible. Many working parents feel that they cannot be included in the PTO because they cannot come to every meeting or be on site during the day. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help. Whatever your own level of flexibility, NECC PTO greatly appreciates their volunteers, as does our teachers and staff. Keep in mind that by volunteering, you will get to enjoy interacting with the kids, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. We can match your time constraints and interests to needed tasks. We have many ways in which Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents can contribute.  Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference in the lives of our children!

The PTO strives to bring these groups together to share thoughts and ideas about programs and activities that benefit children and families.  Our PTO provides information and resources through email, newsletters, family programs, parent meetings, and other communication channels.

Won't you join us? We invite you to come to our monthly meetings at NECC and see what we are all about….we need your ideas and energy! Becoming active is really easy - and it really makes a difference! We look forward to a successful year.

Sincerely,

The NECC PTO Executive Board
